(Laughter) 23 H: Um . . . well, look if you could get that to me in half an hour that’d be fantastic [yep] and [OK] in the meantime I can read the hard copy, so that’d be great. 24 G: Ok , well here it is anyway. 25 H: Ok, thanks very much. [All right, great] OK, see you. 26 G: OK, see you. Pragmatics questions 1. Line 10 – what do the repeated words indicate? Why is do used? 2. Lines 11 & 23 – why are exaggerated words used? (fantastic/great) 3. Lines 14 and 17 – does just mean the same thing here? 4. Line 17 – what does hopefully imply? Why is it uttered twice?
